The Ministry for Pacific Peoples is partnering with OMG Tech, NZQA, Ministry of Education, Tertiary Education Commission, Te Papa Innovation Hub, and MBIE Pasifika to run workshops for Year 7 – 11 students at Porirua College on 23 May 2017.
The purpose of the programme is to provide opportunities for 60 Pasifika Year 7 to Year 11 students from Porirua Schools to participate in an interactive learning experience using digital technologies and science based activities. The event will be hosted by Porirua College with three community of learning schools in the local area.
The programme will involve interactive learning in areas such as robotics, unpacking and 3D printing. The sessions are investigative, open-ended and multidisciplinary.
We will invite a Pasifika STEM champion to talk to participating students about STEM education and career pathways.
