Parent’s Cheat Sheet
We love MIT’s Scratch! It’s much like Wonder Woman’s Lasso of Truth, sure she can do all the things she needs to do without the Lasso, but she’s much more effective with it!
However, it’s a bit full on when you’re just starting out, so we’ve gathered a bunch of resources here to help you learn about it and get started!
The following resources are located inside our digital Wharenui full of amazing resources… we normally only let kaiako and teachers in, but given the current situation, feel free to sign up and check them out! (Clicking on any of the following links takes you to a sign up page.)
Navigating your way around Scratch
With any new programme, it’s all a bit overwhelming. We’ve broken down the screen and gone over what each bit does. Check it out here.
10-Block Challenge
Now that you’ve checked out what the interface looks like, take a few minutes to have a play! We created the 10-block challenge to give you a safe space to play with some of the tools without really having a purpose… just to investigate and have a play! Click here to check it out.
Lesson Plans
We made lesson plans aligned with the New Zealand Curriculum for our amazing kaiako and teachers out there. Feel free to check them out.
