Apply to be part of the Mana Tangata Tech Leadership programme today and get paired with a tech industry mentor to help you on your journey in figuring out how technology can be part of your future.
We have been running the Youth Leadership Mana Tangata programme since 2017 but this year we had to adapt the schedule due to the Covid-19 lockdowns.
What's Involved?
The programme will run from the 29th of October until the end of Term 1 2022 (14th of April)
On the 30th of October we will run the first wānanga (educational weekend) in Auckland during which the students will get to know each other, participate in tech workshops and be part of a guided tour in the headquarter of a tech company.
On the 18th of December (after the end of NCEA exams) we will run the second wānanga in Auckland. Students will start working on their projects, will learn to use tools that are used in the tech work environment as LEAN canvases for ideation and prototyping as well as learning skills in teamwork, public speaking and co-design.
In January (date TBC) will run a three day wānanga during which students will identify the areas they think they need support in and be introduced to tech mentors who can support them in their projects. This wānanga will take place at The Institute of Awesome in Whaingaroa, Raglan.
Between January and April - The students and the mentors will meet fortnightly face to face or online to work on their projects
On the 15th and 16th of April we will run the final wānanga in Auckland during which the students and the mentors will present the projects they have been working on to their peers and their whānau.
